My junior year tailoring class focused heavily on construction and details; however, for the final project we were allowed to build off of these skills and add our own aesthetic to a classic tailored jacket.

Using a black suede, I was able to create crisp seams and simple, clean lines. I created a unique back by forming a triangular shaped seam, allowing for a flattering appearance towards the waist. Adding my own aesthetic to the garment, I finished all of the edges, however I then attached the sleeves and pockets with safety pins. Not only did this juxtapose the soft suede by adding edgier details, but it also allows the customer to personalize their garment by removing the sleeves and wearing the garment as a vest, changing the position of the pockets, or taking them off completely. Underneath the large safety pin closure, there is a snap that allows for the removal of the large pin, as well as a more secure closure if the pin is used. Additionally, the oversized collar adds a unique element that allows the wearer to stand out.

The garment is intended for a confident young working woman in need of a staple garment that can carry her through business meetings during the day, into date night after work, aiming to portray their personality, while respecting an appropriate work environment. With a plunging neckline, this piece is intended to be worn with nothing underneath, exuding a sense of confidence and sexiness; however, can be worn on top of an undergarment in order to remain observant of workplace etiquette.
